Why Kilo QR

  • Free means forever

Your free QR is a static file that encodes your content directly - there's no trial to lapse and no server that can hold it hostage. Unlimited downloads, no watermark, no scan caps, no account. We make money on paid plans (analytics, dynamic edits, animated exports) - never by expiring your free QR.

  • Live scan-safety score

The 0–100 score flags low contrast, oversized logos, photo backgrounds that eat decoder margin, and dense URLs. Every warning is a one-click auto-fix.

  • The prettiest QR you can confidently print

Per-element gradients, custom dot & eye shapes, frame templates, photo-as-QR mode, and a logo slot. The verifier decodes your design before you download, so beautiful never comes at the cost of scannable.

  • 13 content types, one designer

URLs, plain text, WiFi, vCard, app-store smart-routing, SMS, WhatsApp, email, phone, calendar events, location pins, payment handles, social follows.

  • Dynamic links never 404

A dynamic QR points to a short Kilo link you can re-route after printing - fix a typo, swap a menu, retarget a campaign without a reprint. And if a link is ever paused, it resolves to a branded page that says so - never a dead end on a poster you already paid for.

  • Check any Kilo link before you trust it

Every dynamic destination is scanned automatically, and anyone can preview where a Kilo link leads: append + to the link, or paste it at qr2r.com/verify. Trust you can check beats trust you're asked for.

Pick a QR generator

Each generator opens the same designer pre-set to the right content type, with the form fields, validators and FAQs that fit how that QR will be used.

How Kilo QR works

  1. Pick a content type - paste a URL, configure WiFi, build a vCard, or any of the 10 other formats.
  2. Style it - palette, dot/eye shapes, gradient, logo, frame, photo background, optional animation.
  3. Watch the score - the live scan-safety verifier decodes your design on the spot and tells you if it'll scan in the wild.
  4. Download - PNG or SVG free, GIF or MP4 on any paid plan for animated QRs on screens and digital signage.

Your name on every link

A short link is a small promise about where it leads, and a stranger's domain makes people hesitate before they scan. Put your own name on the link instead, so the QR on your poster, packaging, or link-in-bio reads as unmistakably yours - and the people you printed it for actually trust the tap.

  • Bring a domain you own

Point a domain or subdomain you already own at Kilo and confirm it with a single DNS TXT record. Every dynamic link and QR you make then lives on your domain - not qr2r.com.

  • Or claim a branded subdomain

Not ready to buy a domain? Grab a branded name.qr2r.com subdomain in a couple of clicks, so your links still carry a name your audience recognizes.

  • Premium vanity domains, coming soon

Short, memorable hosts like mixmy.link and mygolden.link are on the way - for links that have to look good printed big or said out loud.

Part of the Kilo platform

A printed QR code is a bet that a link outlives the print run. Kilo QR takes that bet on infrastructure built for it: Kilo, one edge routing brain that every Kilo product runs on.

  • Redirects in about 50 ms

Dynamic Kilo links resolve at the edge of Cloudflare's network, close to the person scanning. The redirect reads one precompiled record and answers - no database sits on that path.

  • Links never 404

A paused or over-capacity link resolves to a branded page that says what happened - never a browser error on a poster you already paid to print.

  • Raw IPs are never stored

Scan analytics are aggregate by construction: IP-derived data is hashed with a rotating pepper before it touches storage. You see countries and devices, not people.

  • API-first

The dashboard is a client of the same REST API you can call yourself, documented with an OpenAPI spec and scoped keys. If the dashboard can do it, your integration can.

The same brain runs Kilo Trace, the sibling product for marketers who need to know which of their clicks are real. Different door, same rules: fast redirects, no dead ends, no raw IPs.

Kilo also speaks MCP: connect Claude, Cursor, or any AI assistant and create links, design QR codes, and read your scan numbers by asking in plain language. How to connect your assistant

Pricing that says the quiet part out loud

Static QR codes are free forever - they encode your content directly and never depend on our servers. Paid plans are for the dynamic side: links you can edit after printing, analytics, routing. Annual billing saves about 17%.

Kilo QR - frequently asked questions

  • Do free QR codes from Kilo expire?
No. A free QR is a static file that encodes your content directly in the pattern - no Kilo server sits between the camera and your content, so there is nothing to expire, watermark, or hold hostage. The file you download works for as long as the print exists.
  • What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR encodes your content itself: yours forever, never editable. A dynamic QR encodes a short Kilo link that forwards to your destination, so you can change where it points after printing and see scan analytics. Static is free forever; dynamic is what the paid plans are for.
  • What happens to a dynamic QR if I stop paying?
It never turns into a browser error. A link over your plan's capacity is paused, and a paused link resolves to a branded page that says what happened, with a way to reactivate. Kilo keeps your oldest links live first, because they are the most likely to already be printed.
  • Can I put my own domain on a QR link?
Yes. Bring a domain you own - ownership is verified with a DNS TXT record - or claim a branded subdomain. The short link behind your QR then carries your name instead of qr2r.com.
  • Is there an API?
A REST API with an OpenAPI spec and scoped keys. The Kilo dashboard is a client of the same public API you get, so anything it can do - create links, read analytics, manage routing rules - your integration can do too.
  • What is the scan-safety score?
A 0–100 score computed live while you design. Kilo decodes your work-in-progress on the spot and flags what hurts real-world scanning - low contrast, an oversized logo, a photo background that eats decoder margin, an overlong URL - and every warning comes with a one-click fix.
  • What do the paid plans add over the free designer?
The free designer stays complete. Paid plans add the moving and measurable parts: from Starter, animated GIF and MP4 exports and routing rules (geo, device, weighted A/B, schedules); on Creator, sponsor-ready shared reports and a branded qr2r.com subdomain; on Pro and up, API access and team seats - the link behind the code, not the code itself.
